  A sidechick is a woman who willingly engages with a man who already has a woman. They offer theirselves physically and emotionally to a man sometimes in hopes that the man will leave the woman and sometimes not. Sidechicks are a whole breed of woman that I will never understand. However this is something that is happening in relationships everyday. As long as the woman understands that the chances of him leaving his girlfriend or wife is slim to none then they are likely to come out on the other side okay. We as women have to learn to find ways to elevate one another. Its so easy to say" Well I dont know her!" This mindset is Western and comes from years of slavery. It is not African. It is not the normal nature of black women. We as black women have to find ways of consciously elevating one another, not by being better or thinking one is greater than the other but by having Unity. Every African-American woman is responsible for her fellow sister in color. These sidechick relationships ruin families on a daily basis which is the white mans plan for us. It also boils down to self worth. You are worth finding your own man. You are worth having 100 percent of a mans love,joy, and attention. Being a sidechick is selling yourself short.There is no greater feeling than being the woman that a man is showing off to his family and friends and to the world! Every woman deserves to know that feeling, and not sell themselves short. Why would you want to be someones dirty little secret? You can love a man, but you have to love yourself more and remember what you deserve. I dont believe in judging love. Just because your love doesnt look like my love doesnt make it love nonetheless. I have no doubt in my mind that there are men who love their sidechicks, but his love for you doesnt justify the fact that you come second place to another woman which should always be unacceptable. We are Queens. We are Goddesses. We are the eighth wonders of the world. Its time more of us start behaving like it. Ashes to Ashes. Dust to sidechicks.
