My Girl got a Girlfriend
You can ask my mother. Ive loved this picture since I was six years old, and I don't give a fuck about you judging me. The web definition of sexuality is " the condition of being characterized and distinguished by sex, concern or interest in sexual activity." Who better to post a pic up for this blog than the Notorious K.I.M, the first female MC to challenge society's definition of how females should relate to their sexualitu. Music and pop culture have taken it to a whole new level. The overt amount of sexuality and homosexuality in shows like Orange is the new Black, How to Get Away With Murder, and Empire have challenged and put into spotlight what is acceptable for males and females relating to one another. Christina Aguilera is absolutely scintillating in her song " Get Mine,Get Yours" where she sings about using a man solely for sexual satisfaction. Does this mean she doesn't respect herself or is she just liberal? When Keri Hilson released her video for " The Way You love Me" people were disgusted. Why? Was it the raunchy lyrics? " The way you fuck me baby, you've got me going crazy" Or the over-the-top pelvic thrusting? If a man had the same video concept would the response be different? Was it just to ''unladylike"? Lets not forget to mention the overt amount of bi-sexuality or girl on girl action being alluded to in many of today's mainstream music. Rihanna's "Te Amo" is most definitely about her submitting to another woman's advances, and not because she's gay. Its because she understands the woman and her need for love at the time. Is that normal or for you is that gay? The Internet's " Girl" is a mellow groove where the lead singer, Sid, lavishes her amorous feelings for another female is song form. Is this inappropriate for you? Usher's 2010 anthem " Little freak" is about his woman being sexual with another woman hes interested in sexually all in the name of fun. " I really like your kitty kat, and if you let me touch her Ill know youre not a bluffer ill take you to go see Usher" Nicki Minaj croons trying to persuade the other woman to give in. This song makes my mother amusingly uncomfortable. and I'm sure shes not the only woman that feels this way. What is acceptable? How do you define your sexuality? How do you let other people define it? Do you even really have a definition for what you think for yourself? With all of the controversy that surrounds the LGBTQ community who makes the rules and why should we follow them? Do you lean more towards the Beyonce type of personality that's very reserved, quiet, and demure or the Sasha Fierce kinda woman that slings it, throws it, and rubs it in everyone's face husband included? Do you think of your sexuality in terms of being equal to a man like todays feminist or just a woman who is comfortable in whatever is her choice? Sexuality? hmmmmmm....
