The Resistance
From 2008 to 2024 Pluto was in the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of power, structure, authority, and hierarchy. In 2024 Pluto entered the sign of Aquarius which presides over rebellion, the dismantling of systems, the revolutionary, and the future. The current diabolical economic and political climate is a manifestation of the saying " As Above, So Below". When Pluto was in Capricorn the misogynistic and ominous systems of people in power were somewhat protected and supported. When it entered Aquarius, those same systems became exposed for unethical and immoral structures. You can see it taking place right before our very eyes with people like Diddy and Cassie, Palestine and Israel, the Epstein Files, and Kendrick Lamar's epic, musical showdown with Drake. While it can be emotionally overwhelming to be witnessing in real time the collapse of an empire, it is also a reminder of the strength of our ancestors. As a Black woman in the midst of being a victim of circumstances where decisions are not being made with my well-being at the forefront, I've had to reflect upon what that very blackness can teach me. White people are starting to inflict upon each other the oppression African Americans have endured for decades, and now they're panicking. Black people were subjected to slavery, apartheid, genocide, rape, murder, Jim Crow , and other unimaginable crimes of horror. The current state of America for the white man has been the state for Black people since the ships set sail. So, I've had to ask myself what this means for me as a woman, and a Black person. I feel like the resources for resistance my ancestors drew upon are going to never fail me just like it didn't disappoint my ancestors. In a world that preys upon happiness and looks upon joy suspiciously, those forms of resistance resemble art, music, community, physical, emotional, spiritual and financial nourishment. It's family and environments that support my physical and mental health. I don't know what tomorrow may bring ,but I remember that my ancestors didn't know either, and yet, here I am, as a testimony to their resilience and faith. Joy is a form of resistance. Art is a form of resistance. Any endeavor you choose to engage in to keep you from being broken by the system is a form of resistance. It can be going to your therapist appointment, going to your yoga and pilates class or having that extra glass of wine. Resistance in the form of refusing to feel how someone is suggesting you should feel due to actions beyond your control is power. And as a a Black woman ,living in the age of Donald Trump, I've had to realize I have that power because my ancestors had it. I am living in a very less than savory economic and political climate, but my ancestors lived through worse. I have the power to draw upon my ancestors, and so do you. I know things are less than ideal now, but don't forget to choose your joy. Don't forget to choose your happiness. Don't forget to draw upon your descendants that came before you. Don't forget to choose your resistance.
Ase.
